Mary’s Role in Salvation: Reflections on the Dicastery’s Doctrinal Note and the Batim Messages

"Now I desire to make known My desire that you pray and petition your Holy Father, My beloved Chosen Son, Peter My Peter The Rock on which The Church today stands, His Holiness Pope Francis I in union with Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, the hidden Pope to proclaim My Blessed Mother as Mediatrix of All Grace, Co- Redemptrix and Advocate. It is then that Heaven will open and dispense the Graces necessary for all God's children to fortify you for these moments. I AM JESUS of Nazareth The High Priest, True God and True Man. I love you all My brethrens. Amen. Amen.”

Message given through Iveta at Batim, Goa on 14th October 2016

The recent Doctrinal Note on Some Marian Titles issued by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has reignited theological discussions about the Blessed Virgin Mary’s role in salvation history. Specifically, the Note addresses the titles Co-Redemptrix and  Mediatrix, urging caution in their use to avoid confusion about Christ’s unique role as the sole mediator between God and humanity. This article seeks to answer three key questions in light of the Dicastery’s document and the messages received by Iveta Fernandes at Batim, Goa, which echo the themes of Fatima.

1. What does the Dicastery’s Note clarify about the title “Co-Redemptrix”?

The Dicastery’s Note emphasizes that the title Co-Redemptrix should not be used in a way that risks obscuring Christ’s unique salvific mediation. It highlights that Christ alone is the Redeemer, and Mary’s role in salvation is subordinate and participatory, not equal to His. The Note states that while Mary’s cooperation in salvation is real and unique, the term “Co-Redemptrix” could be misunderstood to imply that Mary shares the same salvific power as Christ, which would contradict Catholic doctrine.

However, the Note does not dismiss the theological truth behind the title. It acknowledges Mary’s profound cooperation in Christ’s work, particularly at the foot of the Cross, where she united her suffering with His. This aligns with the teachings of Lumen Gentium (61), which describes Mary’s singular participation in the work of redemption.

2. How do the Batim messages align with the Vatican’s clarification?

The messages received by Iveta Fernandes at Batim affirm Mary’s role as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix of All Grace, and Advocate, but they do so in a way that is consistent with the Church’s teaching on her subordinate role to Christ. In one message to Iveta on Sept 27, 2013, Jesus confirms His Mother's role as Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix. He emphasized that Mary’s power and grace come from the Most Holy Trinity and that her role is to protect and guide the faithful to Christ during times of persecution. Jesus stated that Mary is the Mediatrix of All Graces, Co-Redemptrix, and Advocate, and her mission is entirely dependent on His redemptive work. He also highlighted her intercessory role for humanity, her immense suffering, and her unique participation in His redemptive work, always in union with and subordinate to Him.

This echoes the Vatican’s affirmation of Mary’s maternal and participatory role in salvation. The Batim messages emphasize that Mary’s titles are not meant to glorify her above Christ but to highlight her unique cooperation in God’s salvific plan. The messages from Batim also call for the Church to proclaim the Fifth Marian Dogma, affirming these titles, as a necessary step toward the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, a theme central to both Batim and Fatima.

3. How do the Batim messages connect to Fatima’s call for devotion to the Immaculate Heart?

The Batim apparitions are deeply rooted in the Message of Fatima, which called for devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as a means of achieving peace and salvation. At Fatima, Our Lady revealed that her Immaculate Heart would triumph, and the Batim messages build upon this promise, urging the faithful to embrace her role as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix, and Advocate.

The Batim messages emphasize the urgency of this recognition, stating that the full fruit of devotion to the Immaculate Heart can only be realized when the Church acknowledges Mary’s God-given role in salvation. This is not a call to elevate Mary above Christ but to fulfill the divine plan revealed at Fatima — a plan that seeks the conversion of souls and the establishment of peace in the world.

Conclusion: A Call to Deeper Reflection

The Dicastery’s Doctrinal Note and the Batim messages both invite the faithful to reflect deeply on Mary’s role in salvation. While the Vatican urges caution in the use of certain titles, the Batim messages call for urgency in proclaiming the truth of Mary’s cooperation in Christ’s redemptive work. These perspectives are not contradictory but complementary, offering the Church an opportunity to purify and deepen its understanding of Marian theology.

"Through the suffering of Victim Souls united with My Suffering as the Redeemer and at the call of My Blessed Mother to serve in such a manner those Souls are redeemed and brought back to God by the Co-Redemptrix and Advocate, My Blessed Mother The Immaculate Conception. I Am JESUS, True God and True Man of Nazareth Amen, Amen.” (Message of Sept 27,2013 to Iveta)

As the Church continues to discern the path forward, the faithful are reminded of the words of Our Lady at Fatima and Batim: to embrace her Immaculate Heart as the surest path to Christ and to pray for the fulfillment of Heaven’s request for the proclamation of the Fifth Marian Dogma.

An on April 2 and 3, 2015, Jesus gives a Message to the Holy Father:

"It is to You I have entrusted the two Keys of My Church. It is My Blessed Mother that will help You and My sheep and My lambs. It is the desire of My Sacred Heart that You proclaim Her as Mediatrix Of All Graces, Co-Redemptrix and Advocate for these times. It is through Her many lost Souls will return to the Sheepfold, whose Shepherd You are. She will help You in the hours of Your persecution. No greater sorrow will befall You than My Grace in You, My Peter Who I Love.”

“In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”- —Our Lady of Fatima, 1917

Eucharistic Miracle in 2023 and Validating Iveta Fernandes' Testimonies

- Iveta Fernandes has experienced Eucharistic miracles, such as the transformation of the Host into the Flesh of Christ during Holy Communion, witnessed by clergy like Rev. Fr. Antoine Emmanuel and testified by her late spiritual director, Rev. James H. Duffy. (See attached video)

- Spinning of the Sun Miracle: On October 14, 2016, many witnesses observed the spinning of the sun during the 'Visitation of Our Lady' at Mt. Batim, Goa, India. This event along with the request to proclaim the Dogma of Mediatrix of All Grace, Co-Redemptrix, and Advocate, has been captured on video and can be seen here in this video. These signs and miracles bolster the call for recognizing the 5th Marian Dogma.

In accordance with the directives of Pope Urban VIII and the new Vatican guidelines outlined in "Norms for Proceeding in the Discernment of Alleged Supernatural Phenomena," we do not intend to pre-empt the judgment of the Holy Apostolic See and the Church regarding the apparitions reported by us. We fully submit to and accept the Church's final decision without reservation.
